On Second Thought*
1. Of course, I cannot
Be sure, but I suspect;
That Eons ago in
This Solar System
Three Planets were
Wasted, un-livable they
Have become. In most
Star Maps of today
They are held
As Venus, Mars and
The Asteroid Belt.
2. Of course, I cannot
Be sure, but I suspect;
That some Ancestors of
Ours was the cause.
We seem to have
Inherit this skill
Of ours, since we
Are well underway
Of destroying the fourth,
Otherwise known as Earth.
3. Of course, I cannot
Be sure, but I suspect;
That any person
Travelling the Milky Way,
Who come across
The Arm where a certain
G-Star with nine
Planets hangs around.
Will find just outside
Our Solar System an
Electronic Message sign.
4. Of course, I cannot
Be sure, but I suspect;
That the message will
With flashing Light
And colored Pictures set:

*The above poem was written in 1988, a Time which seemed very bleak for Mankind. It is now 2009 and I am happy to report the Time of Mankind's total self-destruction has past. However, we are still very close to ecological, environmental and economic collapse.
