In a Space-Port Inn on The Planet Pedan
"Excuse me Sir, my name is Nhan and I work here. The innkeeper told me that you are a Far-Traveler, may I intrude on your time."
The tall thin man being addressed was clad all in black with a flat, wide-brimmed hat; his skin color was almost as black as his clothes. He had the kind of leathery hue of persons that have been exposed to too many harsh rays from strange suns. The man looked up at the slight pale girl; he classified her automatically; female, white-skinned, blue hair and dark blue eyes. Not a native of this planet. At first she looked defenseless, no that was deceptive, his senses and experience told him otherwise. He sense power, hidden steel and talents. He nodded to the girl and pointed to the empty seat across from him.
"The name is Toll, what can I do for you," he said.
"I am from a place called "The Misty Isles" and due to a natural disaster I have become separated from my family, they are not blood relative -of them I have none- but, nevertheless they are my family. I hoped maybe you have come across them on your travels. I am looking for three persons; an old man, humanoid, and two dragons, they may be together or not. His name is Master Lhorne, he stands five feet, ten inches, has curly silver hair and blue-green eyes, and his skin is like mine. The tallest dragon is 6 feet, 5 inches, she is a Golden Dragon and her name is Dhitter. The other dragon is 6 feet tall and blue-green of color with gold tones, his name is Geharre. Sir, have you come across any such person in your travels?" The man shook his head and saw the light of hope disappear from her eyes as he said; "I am sorry child, but I have not come across any such persons." The look in her eyes said you could have forgotten.
"No, I would not have forgotten," he answered, "one does not see so many Dragons that one is likely to forget the ones one have seen."
"Sire, is there a better place than here in Prassin, to look."
"No child, you are in the largest Space-Port for Commerce and Information in this Sector of the Galaxy Arm. You could not be at a better place for your purpose. However, if they are elsewhere, then Time and Space will be against your chances of finding them. Do you know for sure than they landed in this Galaxy?"
When she shook her head, he said; "then your probability of finding them is greatly reduced. You must have come far for I have never heard of place or planet called 'The Misty Isles.'
She nodded yes and said; "I am not sure where 'The Misty Isles' is from here. I am not sure that I am still in the same Galaxy, nothing is familiar. None of the Star Pattern or Astronomy books in the Info-Center are familiar. I am not sure if I am even in the same Universe or Dimension."
"Child, your task is almost hopeless, but I will promise to keep my eyes and ears open and let you know if I come across your family or any info about them. Will you be staying her?"
"Yes, any message in care of the Inn will reach me."
She left after she thanked him, and gave him her blessings. As he looked at the small, sad retreating figure, how could she be given off such a feeling of power when she was near? He really felt that her blessing had settled around him like an invisible shield of protection. He had seen many strange things and people in his travels, but even among them she stood out as something special. Who was she or rather what was she? It was one meeting he would never forget and he felt strangely compelled to do what he could to help her.
