Gardia: A Brief Meeting

Sorry Sir, I didn’t know anyone was about.

No, no, you are welcome. Please stay. You were not know, we do not keep fences in Gardia, all the private gardens and the public parks around Reddick run into each other. We know where the lines divide, so there is no need for any fences.

Yes, it is peaceful. Oh, you like our rain. That why you are here. We usually do not get any visitors in the fall and winter, since Gardia has no high mountain and very little snow; there are no Winter sports to attract the tourists.

No, the temperature seldom goes further down than minus 10 celi.

No, that is not galactic, the word originate with the ‘Tall Ones.’

No, the ‘Tall Ones’ are not native to Gardia. They landed here while searching for a new home, like we, they found Gardia by chance.

No, they preceded us by about 1500 Years.

Oh, you are a collector. Sure, I don’t mind telling you the story of the people of Gardia. First, the ‘Tall Ones,’ as I said they arrived first and by chance. Something went wrong with their instruments; they were off course when they found Gardia.

No, they don’t know where their home-planet is. But, at least they landed
safely, we crashed.

Yes, their ship is on our historical museum.

Our ship was not is advanced as the ‘Tall Ones,’ our instrument were of poor quality and we were in a hurry, our Sun was due to Nova. So all our ships set off in different directions, because we were not aware where in space there was any planets with air we could breathe. Our ship was among the first wave out. In all there were 2258 ships, all sizes, with men, women and children. Their numbers per ship ranged from around 750 persons to over 2000 persons. We do not know how many of the ships survived.

We, by we, I mean my great grandparents, my grandparents were small children then, they were the ones who saw our sun go Nova.

Yes, an awesome sight.

Oh yes, we always ask the visitors if any of them have come across people like us or heard tales. So do the ‘Tall Ones.’

We do get many visitors similar to the ‘Tall Ones,’ but, none have ever heard of a planet called Earth. Yes, that is an odd name.

Our ship, yes, we crash landed, that was over 500 years ago. How anybody survived that landing is a a a un-believable. Oh yes, it is also in the museum, well, what is left of it.

No, I was born on Gardia. I am about 40 of Gardia’s Years.

Gardia is an old planet and she turn slowly. Both we and the ‘Tall Ones” live longer here than we did on our old planets.

Yes, the gravity is much lighter for us, but only a little lighter for the ‘Tall Ones.’ With us, each generation is a little taller than the last one. The ‘Tall Ones’ agree with our findings; that in time we will be as tall as they are.

I see that you ship is leaving. I am so pleased to have met you.

Oh, by the way my name is Nola - the historian, and we are the Senooles.

The small man rose as he introduced himself. The visitor, in spite of not being very tall, had to bend down to shake Nola’s hand. Then, the visitor realized that Nola could not be more than a little over three feet tall. But, why did the ‘Tall Ones’ call them Leprechauns.
